Dr Yiannoula Andreou is a Deputy Head of Primary Education. She has worked in Cyprus, Greece and the UK, with different age groups (mostly ages 6 to 15) as well as with Master and Bachelor students working on various educational research projects. She also serves as a visiting researcher at the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute – CMMI.

Dr Andreou completed her PhD with honors at Birmingham University in July 2011, investigating the spatial understanding of children who are blind through the use of the child’s voice. Her research was funded partly from the A. G. Leventis Foundation.

She graduated from the Department of Education of Ioannina University.  Furthermore, she holds a Postgraduate degree in Educational Disadvantage and Special Educational Needs from the same University, as well as a master’s degree in research in Education from Birmingham University.

Her research interest lies in the field of Education, Ocean literacy and Educational Disadvantage. As a researcher at Birmingham University she led qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting. She collaborated with research teams to develop protocol materials and analysis tools and developed written reports, assessments, and scholarly publications.
