About the CM2PR2C

The Centre for Marine and Maritime Policy, Research and Regional Cooperation (CM2PR2C) aims at

  • Providing legal, regulatory and policy support on marine and maritime issues to stakeholders in the public and private sectors at local, national, regional, EU and international levels
  • Promoting and strengthening cooperation and dialogue on marine and maritime affairs in the Eastern Mediterranean region and beyond

In particular, the scope of activities of CM2PR2C is the following:

  • Participating in discussions at local, national, EU and international levels and contributing to the development of Marine and Maritime Regulations, Policies and Legislation
  • Collaborating with and providing policy, regulatory and legal advice and support to ports regarding logistics and supply chain management
  • Promoting sustainable coastal, nautical, and maritime tourism (including cruise and recreational tourism)
  • Encouraging and leading clustering activities in the Blue Economy sectors

  • Being involved and contributing to policy and governance issues at all levels (local, regional, EU, international) among others in the following areas:
    • Research and Innovation (R&I) for the marine and maritime sectors
    • Marine spatial planning (MSP)
    • Maritime surveillance
    • Short-sea shipping

To achieve the above, CM2PR2C seeks to build relationships, establish partnerships, and develop synergies with stakeholders in the public and private sectors at local, national, regional and international levels and cooperate with them in the planning and implementation of marine and maritime projects and initiatives.

Initiatives

  • Drafting and disseminating the CMMI’s Policy Paper on Sustainable Blue Economy 2030 (available in Greek & English)
  • Open access book on Ocean Governance – co-edited by Dr Maria Hadjimichael. The book offers a compilation of new research material including focused case studies, broad policy syntheses and reflective chapters on the history and status of knowledge production systems on ocean governance. The book is available here.
