Project challenge & objective:

The NextBlueGeneration Project will bring together the Blue Economy industry and the Education sector and target young people by transferring information from tools directly from the experts to teachers. For this aim, it will deliver educational content, training, and tools for five sectors of the Blue Economy (Nautical Tourism, Maritime Transport, Marine Biotechnology, Aquaculture, Marine Conservation) in the form of (i) an interactive Blue Career Pathway Tool, (ii) a BlueGeneration Game, and (iii) a Massive open online course (MOOC) for teachers to enhance the skills of teachers and students.

The interactive Blue Career Pathway Tool will provide students with individualised career guidance and self-assessment. The BlueGeneration Game will deliver information about the sectors in an attractive gaming format tailored to young people’s preferences. The MOOC will “train the Trainer” and deliver easy-to-use background information to teachers and trainers, enabling them to support young people in their career choices in the Blue Economy. The project strongly emphasises implementing the tools into the environment of the target group (teachers). It uses its already established networks with schools and the education sector. Major projects and organisations come together for this aim and will ensure long-term success.

Role of CMMI:

CMMI will lead Work Package 6, “Implementing the Next Blue Generation, leading the development of the MOOC training course for teachers, supporting the data gathering in Work Package 2 , Methodology and data gathering”, and developing the Blue Generation game under Work Package 3.

Consortium:

This project is co-funded by the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund of the European Union under grant agreement No: 101124924
