Project challenge & objective:

The MSP4Growth project consortium aims to create decision support tools that incorporate ecosystem services into management and decision-making solutions for activities in the Blue Economy Sector. Our goal is to promote environmental sustainability and socio-economic progress through the use of intelligent tools that can enhance understanding of the intricate interactions between natural environment processes and human activities. The primary objective is to deliver Marine Spatial Planning intelligent decision support for sustainable blue development. To achieve this, the consortium will utilize cutting-edge technological concepts such as edge processing, AI/ML, cloud-based geo-spatial data ingestion and visualization. The project has four main objectives. Firstly, the consortium will identify and engage with targeted customer segments to define the features and KPIs of the proposed solution. Secondly, they will develop a suite of intelligent system modules for Marine Spatial Planning decision support. Thirdly, they will create a scalable and interoperable digital infrastructure to support and coordinate intelligent systems and human resources. Finally, the consortium will validate the overall decision support system to gain insights for future development towards commercialization. By joining efforts to address a specific socioeconomic challenge in the field of ICT, the MSP4Growth consortium seeks to produce tangible results that strengthen the economy’s competitiveness and have a positive impact on economic growth and the quality of life in Cyprus.

Role of CMMI:

CMMI will have a technical role with a lead on the development of algorithms for Marine Spatial Planning. Moreover, CMMI will lead the stakeholder engagement based on its extensive network to support the definition of use-cases and execution of pilot scenarios.
