Loucas Hamatsos was born in Famagusta County, Cyprus on the 23rd of November 1962. He graduated in Commercial Operation of Shipping at the City of London University and joined Zela Shipping Co Ltd – Operation Department, (London based Company), in January 1988.

He further enhanced his education in Shipping by successfully completing the professional qualifications of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and The Chartered Institute of Transport. He was elected a full Member of The Chartered Institute of Transport in 1993 and Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in 1995.

Mr. Hamatsos was appointed to the Zela Shipping’s Board of Directors in 2002 where he served until the end of August 2014. In September 2014, he was assigned the responsibility by the Principals/Shareholders to manage the newly formed Ship Management Company in Limassol, Cyprus under the name of: “Olympia Ocean Carriers Ltd”. He commenced his duties on the 1st of September 2014 in the capacity of C.E.O (Chief Operating Officer), responsible for the safe management and operation of seven (7) vessels dry bulk carriers’ Cape Size type of 170,000 – 180,000 metric tons and two (2) dry bulk carrier Kamsarmax type of 82,000 metric tons.

He is a member of the Cyprus Maritime Academy Board of Governors since April 2016. Furthermore, he is the President of the Famagusta Shooting Club and since January 2016, he has been elected and currently serving as a Committee Member and President of The Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation. Moreover, he is a board member of the International Shooting Federation FITASC since July 2017.
