Dr Ioannis Vlaskos is Senior Advisor, in Research & Development at Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. He obtained a diploma in aerospace engineering and a PhD in internal combustion engines from the Technical University of Berlin. He started his professional carrier at ABB Turbo Systems in Switzerland as development engineer and later as manager of the turbocharging systems development engineering group. During that time, he has been in charge of international projects on marine engine optimization and emission reduction such as ACME, Clean I&II, Lifetime, Smokermen and Hercules. He then became Engineering Manager of the powertrain analysis and design department at Ricardo Deutschland. Dr Vlaskos has assumed responsibility for a wide range of activities as Director of the Engines Business Unit and as Global Market Sector Director-Marine projects – providing consulting and support to a worldwide range of OEMs and end users. In his current position Dr. Vlaskos is supporting WinGD and CSPI in the development, optimization and improvement of 2- and 4-stroke engines and marine propulsion systems.
