Dr Manos Moraitis is a biologist interested in marine ecology, climate change and marine health assessment. He is an expert on marine benthic ecology, environmental impact assessment, marine ecological status evaluation, macrofauna taxonomy, and ecological niche modelling. Manos completed a BSc in Biology from the University of Crete and an MSc on Environmental Biology from the same university. For his PhD he evaluated the potential effects of numerous climate change scenarios on the distribution of benthic indicator species currently used in environmental impact assessment studies. In addition, he worked with benthic indicator species currently used in marine health assessment and relevant Species Distribution Modelling methods (SDMs) in order to predict potentially eutrophic coastal areas on a large spatial scale.

Manos has extensive experience in ecological modelling, ecological data analysis and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He has been involved in research programs regarding the assessment of sensitive habitats using benthic macroinvertebrates as biotic tools and proxies of environmental disturbance. Manos has participated in several scientific diving and field expeditions as well as in numerous training courses/workshops/seminars. Manos has received two research grants from the A.G Leventis Foundation. Dr. Manos Moraitis is an Associate scientist at CMMI.
