Dr George Mallouppas is a Senior Associate Scientist at the Marine and Offshore Science, Technology, and Engineering Centre (MOSTEC) at CMMI since May 2021. George obtained his PhD degree in 2013 at Imperial College London in Mechanical Engineering in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). George’s specialty is CFD, which was attained in the UK working for SIEMENS. George’s expertise spans a wide range of applications and in-depth knowledge of physical models that involve turbulent flows, combustion, reactive flows and multiphase flows. At Siemens, George was involved with the validation/verification of STAR-CCM+, a state of the art commercial CFD software. Among else, George was also involved with the validation/verification of DARS and STAR-ICE software packages mostly used for Internal Combustion Engine CFD simulations.

George has published extensively in journals/scientific conferences. His main research interests are mostly in combustion and emission predictions (NOx, CO, CO2, soot), high fidelity CFD simulations (LES) of gas turbines and RANS modelling of internal combustion engines. At MOSTEC, George is involved with research activities mostly focused on the decarbonisation of the shipping industry, mostly with alternative fuels (hydrogen, ammonia, biogas and biomethane to name a few) and other niche technologies.
