Dr Flora Karathanasi completed her studies at the School of Rural & Surveying Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2009. She holds an M.Sc. in Marine & Ocean Technology & Science (2013) and a PhD (2020), both from the Department of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering of NTUA. Her main research interests include assessment studies of marine renewable energy resources (especially, offshore wind and waves), long-term modelling of metocean climate, extreme value analysis of metocean parameters, in situ marine observations, and numerical simulation models for waves, currents, and sediment transport.

She has participated in several European and Greek funded research projects and until October 2022, she has authored or co-authored 18 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 11 articles in international/national conference proceedings after peer-reviewing, and 2 book chapters. She is also a regular reviewer of major journals and international conferences in her field of expertise. Dr Karathanasi is currently working as an Offshore Wind Manager at the Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company S.A. and is a Visiting Researcher at the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI).
