Despina is a marine geoscientist with interests in Seafloor and Habitat Mapping, Ecological Monitoring, Coastal Morphodynamics, and Coastal Zone Management. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of the Aegean, receiving a BSc in Marine Sciences and she holds an MSc in Marine Geosciences from the University of Bremen. In parallel with her graduate studies, Despina worked as a Research Assistant at the MARUM Institute.

During the last years she has been involved in various marine-related projects and specialized field courses, focusing mostly on Water Quality Monitoring, Seismic Imaging of the sub-seafloor, Acoustic Imaging of seabed morphology and benthic habitats using geophysical and GIS techniques, understanding of past sea-level changes and investigation of extreme wave events under future sea level scenarios.
