Dr Georgiou received her 5-year diploma in 2007, from the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), with specialization in Structural Engineering. In 2008, she received a Master’s degree on “Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Design of Structures”, from the same department. After working in the Civil Engineering sector for the development of the building facilities for the extension of the Sewage Treatment Plant of Paphos area (between 2009-2011), in 2012 she proceeded to PhD studies at the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cyprus. She completed her PhD in May 2017. At the moment she is studying for a second bachelor degree in Sociology, at the Department of Social and Political Science, UCY.

She concurrently works as an Adjunct Lecturer of under-graduate and post-graduate courses (2017-2023) in Civil Engineering at the University of Cyprus, while simultaneously working as Research Associate at various projects, such as the MBAC center of CMMI for the development of artificial reefs by additive manufacturing. Her research interests include the characterization of the structural performance of strain hardening fiber reinforced cementitious composites, laboratory testing design and experiments, finite element numerical analysis, 20th century concrete heritage buildings, historic concrete seismic assessment, new techniques and materials for seismic retrofit.
