Andreas Vyras was born in 1978 in Larnaka.

He graduated from St. George Lyceum and following his army duties, he pursued his studies at the University of Cyprus at the Department of Business and Public Administration specialized at the Banking and Financial Sector. He continued his studies at the Southampton University in England, where he got his Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA).

He returned to Cyprus in 2002. Motivated by his interest in public affairs he worked and he participated in many organisations and agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, for a two years period and at Famagusta – Larnaka Co-operative Savings Society Ltd, for a ten years period as an Internal Auditor and as the General Manager. Up until his election as Mayor of Larnaka, he was also one of the Managing Executives of the Cooperative Central Bank of Cyprus.

During the years 2003 to 2009 he served as a Member and as President of the Youth Board of Cyprus.

In 2016 he was elected Mayor of Larnaka and as President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities.

He is married to Andrea Christodoulou.
